Here is the "official" explanation on the rain delays from our Engineer Steve Morris:
“The Contractor has to make a decision as to whether to work or not when rain or other bad weather is forecast. If the Contractor exposes a wall or roof to perform work, and rain occurs, leading to water entering the building and causing damage to the building or resident’s property, they (the Contractor) are responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged property. This can be a significant cost. Therefore, the Contractor must carefully consider the weather forecast each day before beginning work on a building. Typically, if the forecast gives a 30 percent chance of rain, or better, the Contractor will not work. The Contractor actually... Read More » |

We have posted some Artistic renderings we had done to see what the new color schemes would look like on the buildings before the final decisions were made. We unanimously agreed that they look awesome. An order of magnitude improvement over what we have now. Also the real thing will look even better that the pictures since the renderings focused only on the colors and not the new smoother cleaner textures offered by the vinyl siding. Here is a link to the Renovation Photo Gallery where the pictures can be found.

As the first item to go live on the "day 2" site, today we have rolled out a new calendar application to track the renovation project access requirements. Check it out at this link. There will also be a more general list of dates placed on this page, but the intent is that this calendar will help with the tight coordination 6 weeks out.

This bug is bad enough that we worried that when the bug is fixed we could not guarantee there would not be data loss for the people who had posted up until that point. I felt that the prudent thing to do was to release the rest of the website, hold off on the official forums, and launch with a link to the Yahoo forums that some people are already using. We still plan to implement our own forums system as soon as the issue is worked out.
In the mean time the site is online for your... Read More » |

Today the RCE website got a new banner thanks to the graphical talents of the President, Neil Sutter. Thanks to Neil we have the beautiful banner at the top of the screen. We have been flying a temporary banner to date. Soon we will be able to replace the picture that makes up that banner with one showing the newly renovated buildings. Neil says he plans an making banners for different seasons and maybe even holidays... can you see a Halloween and Chrismas banner in our future? Anyway thanks again to Neil for his Graphical work.

Yesterday we signed a contract with KPI 2 after much deliberation. The renovation project is now officially underway. The target start date is April 28th 2008. We are now going into a preconstruction phase with the contractor where we will plan out the logistics and scheduling for the actual implementation of the renovations. Changes to our neighborhood are coming soon. We will post more details on this site as we go forward. We have also created a new Renovation area on the site... just click on the renovation tab above. We also plan to launch this site in the next few weeks so Stay tuned.
